SPRING REGISTRATION INFORMATION

Spring registration will open February 2, 2025.

Registration will open online Feburary 2, 2025 for Spring Baseball and Softball for youth ages 3 and older. (Age divisions can be viewed here.)

Before registering, it is important to read the registration guidelines below covering St. Matthew CYO policies related to topics including late registration, team formation, parent involvement, uniforms and refunds.

LATE REGISTRATION: Late registration, which carries a $50 fee, will start on March 1 and will remain open TO FILL INCOMPLETE TEAMS. The $50 late registration fee will be waived if you register your child for a team that does not have the minimum number of players. If you register your child after March 1 and we can place them on a team already at or above the minimum number of players, the $50 late fee will apply.

CYO TEAM FORMATION POLICY: The Archdiocese has updated team formation guidelines and reduced the maximum number of players on a team. The St. Matthew CYO Board aims to form teams with all returning players but cannot guarantee it if the number of returning players exceeds the maximum number of players set by the Archdiocese. All other new players will move into a lottery to be placed on a team.

Teams are formed based on returning player status, lottery and at the discretion of the CYO Board. TEAMS ARE NOT FORMED BASED ON PARENT, PLAYER, OR COACH REQUESTS. IF A REQUEST IS REQUIRED FOR A PLAYER TO PARTICIPATE, PLEASE RECONSIDER REGISTRATION. THERE IS NO GUARANTEE THAT ANY AND ALL REQUEST BE GRANTED. SEE REFUND POLICY BELOW. ONCE ALL TEAMS ARE FORMED AND ROSTERS ARE SET, THERE WILL BE NO CHANGES ALLOWED.

After registration closes and teams are formed and approved by the St. Matthew CYO Board, practice days and times will be determined by the volunteer head coach. They can start as early as March 3.

Consistent with prior years, we plan to play our home games at the St. Matthew fields and gym. However, there is no guarantee that all home games will be played at St. Matthew. Opening weekend games will start on April 4.

INTERESTED IN COACHING? Please email our Registrars at saintmattscyo@gmail.com. First-time coaches must meet some requirements set by by our St. Matthew CYO board and the Archdiocese.

PARENT INVOLVEMENT: Each season, every registered player is required to have a parent support/volunteer to operate the concession stand. Teams can choose to unanimously opt to pay $10.00 per player to hire personnel to operate the concession stand.

UNIFORM POLICY: The CYO registration includes one uniform (may vary depending on sport) per player for each sport. For the spring season, baseball and softball registrants will receive a hat and jersey. Parents will be responsible for providing pants, socks and belts. The head coach of each team will determine the required colors for pants and socks. To remain consistent, each team is expected to wear the official CYO uniform. Wearing an alternate jersey may result in forfeiture of games during any season. If you are interested in sponsoring uniforms for the entire CYO ministry, please contact our Registrars at saintmattscyo@gmail.com.

Please note that if you are not a resident of the St. Matthew CYO service area, as defined by the St. Matthew Parish boundary, do not attend St. Matthew Catholic School or are not a registered St. Matthew parishioner, your registration will be considered provisional. Please contact our Registrars at saintmattscyo@gmail.com for more information.
